As everyone in
Fleet 90 knows, the JY15 is a fun boat to sail. Once you go out on
one you will be hooked! It only takes a few minutes to get the boat
ready to sail (a good thing for our fleet captain who is always late
getting to the club from work) and everyone always helps with
launching and hauling the boats. There is great camaraderie
among this fleet as well as a sharing of knowledge both on and off
the water. We have a top notch race committee on Thursday nights
that make this program run smoothly.
In 2005, we saw a revival in the fleet,
with most Thursday night’s having a showing of 10 or more boats on
the starting line. By the end of the season, we couldn’t find enough
boats for all of the people that wanted to try one out. Racing
continued strong throughout 2006, 2007 and 2008. We are looking forward to a fabulous 2009
JY15 racing season at Duck Island. You do not have to be a
DIYC member to race, but members get first preference for storing
their boat at the club. Racing fees for the entire summer haven't
been finalized yet (as of 02/18/09). The
registration form when updated for 2009 can be found at the
Duck Island Racing page.
We welcome any new sailors who want to experience a Thursday night
of racing at DIYC to come on out for a test drive, free of charge.
The 2009 racing schedule is as follows:
First Series: 2009 - Thursdays June 4, 11, 18, 25, July 2,
9, 16
Second Series: 2009 - Thursdays July 23, 30, Aug 6, 13, 20,
27
First Warning: 1830 Eastern Daylight Time, each date
On Saturday August 1, 2009, DIYC will
host the
JY15 CT State Championships. More
details will follow.

looking to charter boats. DIYC has a new crew board, so if you need
help finding a body for your boat or you'd like to crew, post a
notice at the Crew Board
or you can contact the fleet captain for
assistance.
