Hamburg Cove - May 28 - 30, 2011 How exciting! The 2010 DIYC cruising program begins with a cruise to Hamburg Cove for Memorial Day Weekend. This has always been a fun weekend and the nice thing is that you don’t have to be a cruiser to join in. Twelve years ago, when we changed the cruise to Hamburg Cove, non-cruisers were able to join in, since Hamburg Cove is on the Connecticut shore and could be reached by car. We are planning to do the same thing this year. So, anyone wanting to join the cruise by car, we are planning a carry in dinner on Sunday evening, May 29. We will have a pick up at the dinghy dock at Hamburg around 4:00 p.m. Please give us a call at home (860) 526-4249 or on our cells at (860)227-5070 or (860) 391-4252 so we can come and get you by dinghy. (And don’t forget your food contribution and byob).
For the carry in dinner, if your last name begins with: A-I – please bring the main course J-O – please bring desrt or salad P-Z – please bring hor'doeuvres (Note that I have changed the order of things people need to bring. The last third half of the alphabet had been bringing the main course for 11 years!) And also byob! We will supply paper goods and ice. Sunday morning, if there is enough interest and weather permitting, we are planning our Annual "gunk hole" tour by caravan of dinghies over to Seldon Creek (about 1-1/2 miles) or maybe up to the Town of Hamburg and around there (less ambitious). So make sure your dinghy has enough gas and is in good condition. The past couple of years instead of doing Seldon Creek or even Hamburg Cove by dinghy, we have been walking the loop in Hamburg Cove which is a wonderful walk. This is our other option. Saturday evening will be a cocktail party (not dinner). We will let you know on Saturday whose boat it will be on. So bring something to share and byob for that. Should be a fun weekend! If you have any questions or know now that you will meet us by land and need a pick up, please give us a call.
