Notice of DIYC Columbus Day Cruise to Hamburg
Cove
October 8, 9 & 10 - (aka Memorial Day Redux*)
T he
DIYC 2005 Cruising season will come to a close with a
three-day, action-packed cruise to Idyllic Hamburg cove
for the Columbus Day Weekend, October 8 – 10.

Saturday, October 8:
Cruise-in to Hamburg Cove – anchor in outer cove (town
moorings may be available). Note that the Hamburg Cove
YC is having a “Rendezvous” in the outer cove as well,
so an earlier arrival is advised.
Also,
if the earlier arriving speedsters can scope out and
possibly secure some extra moorings/provide raft-ups,
I’m sure us slower, environmentally-conscious
blow-boaters will be more than happy to split the $10
mooring fee (you know, to help with your fuel bill…).
We’ll be in contact on CH 72 while enroute to coordinate
mooring/anchoring.
Cocktail party aboard
Karinga – 1800 hrs
Please
bring something to share and bev. of choice
Sunday, October 9
Tour of Goodspeed
Opera House – 0830 hrs
Pete Connal’s
Goodspeed tour will be one of the highlights
of the cruise. Tentative plans are to take
Ceilidh up to the Goodspeed Dock in time for
a 10:30 tour of the Opera House. More
details will be sent out as plans firm up.
Many thanks to Pete Connal for getting this
arranged. We’ll probably lunch afterwards
at one of the nearby eateries.
Carry-in
Potluck Dinner – 1730 hrs
We’ll be using the modified Weinsteinian
plan for potluck duties.
If you last name begins with:
A-I – Hors d’oevres and drinks
J-O – Main Course and drinks
P-Z – Dessert or Salad and drinks
By the way – we’re looking for a host for
the potluck (just so everyone’s got a bit
more room…). Please let Mary or me know if
you would be so gracious. We’ll
provide the paper/plastic goods and ice,
tidy up afterwards, and try to enforce any
“No Red Wine On the Gelcoat” rules if need
be.
If any land-lubbers want to join us hearty
seafarers for the potluck, let us know by
Sunday AM, and we’ll send a dinghy to fetch
you – just make sure you’ve got some tasty
goods, or you may find yourself stranded in
a longboat. {Menno’s cell: 860-304-5680,
Mary’s cell: 860-304-5681}. Plan on being
picked up at the Hamburg Dinghy dock at
4:30.
Monday,
October 10
Seldon Cove
Gunk-hole Cruise by Dink – 0930 hrs
If weather and interests permit, we’ll try a
“bi-annual” dinghy cruise of nearby Seldon
Creek. It’s about 1 ˝ miles away, so make
sure your dink is running well, and gassed
up appropriately.
Should
be another fun Duckie Weekend.
If you have any questions, or know now that
you will meet us by land and need a pick up,
please give us a call.
