Rules:
This regatta will be governed by
The Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012.
Rule Changes:
The Sailing Instructions change
several rules in addition to Rule 77-Appendix G-sail
numbers are not required and Race Signals-Postponement
signaled ashore. Double handed entries may use self steering devices during sail
changes, changing Rule 52.
Safety Requirement:
Jack lines and harnesses must be used
between sunset and sunrise and when reefed. At least two
persons must be aboard. Conformance to ISAF Offshore Special
Regulations for Race Category 4 Monohulls is strongly
encouraged.
Courses:
The Race Committee will select and
signal a course predefined in the Sailing Instructions
immediately prior to the race. Course length will range from
approximately 40 to approximately 80 nautical miles. All
planned courses terminate at Block Island.
Sailing Instructions: Will
be available at least one week before the first Warning on
the Duck Island Yacht Club web site
www.diyc.com. Notices to
Competitors will be posted on the Race Committee bulletin
board located below the deck in the front of the clubhouse
building, Hammock Road South, Westbrook, CT.
Classes:
Several spinnaker and non-spinnaker classes based on PHRF
handicaps are planned.
Eligibility:
Entrants must hold a current, valid
PHRF-ECSA or DIYC-PHRF certificate before the Close
of Entries. Additionally, boats must contain as a
minimum, a self-bailing cockpit, fixed berths, galley
facilities and the ability to be self supporting for a
weekend cruise.
Facilities:
Some slips may be available gratis at
DIYC on a first come first served basis. A limited number of
transient town moorings are available for boats under 32 ft
LOA in the Patchogue River. Dockage may also be found at
Pilots Point Marina and anchorage may be found inside Duck
Island breakwaters.
Fees:
Race Fee: $15 per boat ($20 for
entries mailed after June 11, 2012)
$5.00 additional for entrants who
are not USSA members

Scoring:
Will be done by a PHRF-based
"time-on-time" system and RRS Appendix A. This
regatta is an ECSA Offshore Circuit Bonus Points race.
Results and Prizes:
Results will be announced at the BIRW
Registration area after the time limit. Prizes will be awarded to
the top three finishers in each class at the end-of-year
DIYC Awards Banquet.
