About Pursuit
Races: Pursuit is for PHRF
races with a defined distance. After creating a race with a
given distance, starting times for each boat are calculated
by subtracting the handicap time from the basic start time.
On this basis, if all boats sail to their handicaps, they
will cross the finish line simultaneously! One advantage of
this handicap rule is that the order of finish is the same
as the final standing. The time correction is calculated in
exactly the same way as for PHRF, time on distance.
Start:
In or near Duck Island Roads,
Westbrook, CT. Start time for each entrant, based on
time-on-distance handicap and course, will be listed in the
Entry List. The First Start will not be before 1830, without
consent of the entrant, and the Last Start will not be later
than 2045. Communication by cell phone will be required for
confirming proper start time and actual finish time.
