Purpose of Event: To encourage the practicing of Crew Overboard drills, and to help racers develop their skills at the starting line.

Entries Close: 48 hours prior to the scheduled First Warning Signal of the first race of each series.

Start: In or near Duck Island Roads, Westbrook, CT. As many starts will be run as time allows. Rolling start sequences are likely.

Crew Overboard Drill: All Entrants shall conduct a Crew Overboard Drill prior to starting the first race. A PFD (uglier the better) shall be "flown" from the pushpit or aft area of the boat to indicate that they have conducted an appropriate Crew Overboard Drill. 
The drill may be conducted any time during the 30 days prior to the first start.

Rules: These races will be governed by The Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012, the 2010 DIYC Night of Starts Sailing Instructions, and this Notice of Race.

Rules Changes: The Sailing Instructions change the following rules: Rule 29.2 - General Recalls, Rule 35- Time limit is by boat, Rule 62.1(a)-Restriction on redress, Rule 77-Appendix G sail numbers are not required, Race Signals-Postponement signaled ashore

Courses: Will be selected immediately prior to each race by the Race Committee, and signaled in accordance with the Sailing Instructions. Courses will be either a single windward mark set a few minutes sailing time from the starting line to be rounded to starboard. or a similar leeward mark to be rounded to port. Boats will finish by passing the mark.

Sailing Instructions: Will be available at least 24 hours before the first Warning Signal online at
www.diyc.com .

Classes: Several classes using PHRF-ECSA ratings, One-Design groupings or experience levels will be determined by the Race Committee prior to race. Entrant need not have a current, valid PHRF-ECSA certificate.

Class Flags: The class flag for each class will be the numeral pennant corresponding to the class number to which boats are assigned on the Entry List. Entrants are strongly encouraged to fly a class flag from their backstay or port shroud.

Scoring: Races will not be scored.

Results and Prizes: Token prizes may be awarded by the Race Committee after the following Wednesday night's race when results are announced at the Clubhouse.
