Entries Close: August 12, 2009

Start: In or near Duck Island Roads, Westbrook, CT. The First Warning Signal is scheduled at 1830.

Rules: This regatta will be governed by The Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012, the Sailing Instructions, and this Notice of Race.

Rules Changes: The Sailing Instructions change the following rules: Rule 35-Time limit is by boat, Rule 62.1(a)-Restriction on redress, Rule 77-Appendix G sail numbers are not required, Race Signals-Postponement signaled ashore

Safety Requirement: Jack lines and harnesses must be used.

Courses: The Race Committee will select and signal a course predefined in the Sailing Instructions immediately prior to the race. Course length will range from approximately 40 to approximately 110 nautical miles.

Sailing Instructions: Will be available no later than 24 hours prior to first warning signal at Duck Island Yacht Club, Hammock Road South, Westbrook, CT, in the box to the left of the Race Committee bulletin board located below the deck in the front of the clubhouse building, and online at www.diyc.com.

Classes: Several spinnaker and non-spinnaker classes based on PHRF-ECSA handicaps are planned.

Eligibility: Entrants must hold a current, valid PHRF-ECSA certificate on file in the ECSA/PHRF online database before the Close of Entries, or submitted in hard copy with the entry form, or a current DIYC club PHRF certificate.  Additionally, boats must contain as a minimum, a self-bailing cockpit, fixed berths, galley facilities and the ability to be self supporting for a weekend cruise.

Facilities: Some slips may be available gratis at DIYC on a first come first served basis. A limited number of transient town moorings are available for boats under 32 ft LOA in the Patchogue River. Dockage may also be found at Pilots Point Marina and anchorage may be found inside Duck Island breakwaters.

Entry/Party Fees: Race Fee: $35.00 per boat ($40.00 for entries mailed after August 7th, 2009)

Additional Fee: $5.00 per boat for entrants who are not USSA member

Scoring: Will be done by a PHRF-based "time-on-time" system and RRS Appendix A. The ECSA Offshore Circuit will award bonus points for this overnight race.

Results and Prizes: Results will be announced at the DIYC clubhouse at 1800 Eastern Daylight Time, 15 August 2009. Prizes will be awarded for the first three places in each class, based on corrected time.
