Start:
One and a half miles west of the mouth
of the Connecticut River, in Old Saybrook, CT. The First
Warning Signal is scheduled at 1100.
For Charity:
The Leukemia Cup Regatta is a charitable fund raising event
for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) that combines
social and racing activities for the yachtsmen, family and
friends. This year the weekend will be co-hosted by NCYC and
Duck Island Yacht Club (DIYC). Friday night LLS will host a
Captains check in with refreshments. Saturday racing will be
run by the DIYC Race Committee, and LLS will host a post
race dinner with auction, raffles and music.
Rules:
This regatta will be governed by
The Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012, the Sailing
Instructions, and this Notice of Race.
Courses:
Will be selected immediately prior
to each race by the Race Committee, and signaled in
accordance with the Sailing Instructions. The Race
Committee may conduct two or more races for some classes,
weather permitting.
Sailing
Instructions: Will be
available no later than 24 hours prior to first warning
signal at North Cove Yacht Club, Sheffield St., Old Saybrook
and Duck Island Yacht Club, Hammock Road South, Westbrook,
CT, and online at
.
Classes:
Several spinnaker and non-spinnaker classes based on
PHRF-ECSA handicaps.
Eligibility:
Entrants in handicap classes must
have a current, valid PHRF-ECSA certificate on file
in the ECSA/PHRF online database before the Close of
Entries, or submitted in hard copy with the entry form.
Additionally, boats must contain, as a minimum, a
self-bailing cockpit, fixed berths, galley facilities and
the ability to be self supporting for a weekend cruise.
Facilities:
Free overnight moorage in newly
dredged North Cove (yellow-tagged mooring). Showers, parking
and launch service available from NCYC. Dockage may
also be found at Pilots Point Marina, some slips may be
available at DIYC and anchorage may be found inside Duck
Island breakwaters.
Entry/Party Fees:
Race Fee: $35.00 per
boat
Fundraising
boats and individuals will receive
incentives. Leukemia Cup for Top FR
boat.
Saturday Night
Post-Race Party: $20 per person in advance, $25 at the door
