Notice of Race

 

Date:

Tuesdays May 27 June 10, July 8, 22**, and August 12, 26 - 2008

First Warning:

1830 Eastern Daylight Time, each date

Start:

In Duck Island Roads between the Race Committee Signal Boat and a starting mark placed by the Race Committee prior to each race.

Courses:

Will be selected immediately prior to each race by the Race Committee, and

 

signaled in accordance with the Sailing Instructions.

 

 

Sailing Instructions:

Will be available after 1830 Eastern Daylight Time on Monday, 12 May 2008, at the Duck Island Yacht Club in the box located under the deck at front of the building, and online at www.diyc.com

 

 

Classes and Handicaps:

Will be determined by the Race Committee prior to the Series, using PHRF-LIS ratings.  For each entrant (except in the Etchells class), a current, valid PHRF-LIS certificate must be on file and available in the ECSA/PHRF-LIS online database before the Close of Entries, or be submitted to the Race Committee with entry form.  The crew of each boat must be at least 50% women, and a woman must be at the helm at all times while racing.

 

 

Check-in:

All boats must, upon approaching the Starting Area, check in with the Race Committee Signal Boat prior to each race, by hailing or by VHF radio on Channel 68.  The Race Committee will respond to the call “Duck Island Race Committee.”

 

 

Rules:

The Racing Rules of Sailing (2005-2008), the prescriptions of United Sates Sailing Association, the Sailing Instructions for this Series, and this Notice of Race

 

 

Close of Entries:

For Series entries:  1830 Eastern Daylight Time, Monday, 12 May  2008

 

For single races:  1630 Eastern Daylight Time on the day of the race

 

 

Entry Fees:

Series (member):

$ 80.00 ($ 75.00 for entries received before 6 May 2008)

 

One race (member):

$ 15.00

 

 

 

 

Series (non-member):

$120.00 ($115.00 for entries received before 6 May 2008)

 

One race (non-member):

$  22.00 

 

 

 

 

Non-USSA member

$   5.00 additional per entry

 

 

Scoring:

PHRF-based Time-on-Time scoring for each race, and an average series score system for series overall results in each class.  A minimum of five races must be completed by a competitor to qualify for series place awards.

 

 

Results:

Will be announced at Duck Island Yacht Club after each day’s racing.
