This years DIYC’s Fathers Day cruise to Mattituck, L.I. is scheduled for June 16 and 17.  Your cruise leaders this year will be George & Christine Van Drasek aboard Isabelle, their 33’ Cape Dory sailboat.

This relatively short (18 nm) trip from Westbrook should prove to be a fun for all.  Slack tide occurs on Saturday at 5:48 AM in Westbrook then floods all morning. Sunday, slack tide will again occur at 2:07 PM near Mattituck and then ebb all afternoon.  The entrance to the Mattituck channel is marked by the G “3A” GONG buoy, which is located at roughly 41 01.795N, 072 34.163W.  You should be able to find a good anchorage off the Mattituck city dock located at roughly 41 00.2N, 072 32.8W, but beware of its grassy bottom.

There are several marinas in the area for those wanting a slip vs. anchoring out.  I have used Matt-A-Mar Marina (631) 298-4739.  They are located directly across from the city dock and I have found them easy to work with.

Communications will be on VHF Ch. 16 and 68.

The Mattituck Strawberry Festival is a short hike from the City Dock to the Fair Grounds, and you will want to try some of the strawberry shortcake (it is very good) and then visit the many craft booths or enjoy the rides on the midway. 

- Cocktails are being hosted by Hans & Edith aboard Asterion from 5:00 to 6:00 pm so bring your favorite cocktail and a snack to share.

- Reservations have been made at the "Touch of Venice" located next to the Matt-A-Mar Marina at around 7:00 pm and if you would like to join use please let me know so that I can include you in our reservation.

- Lorie & Howie are planning a little brunch for the group at there place in Cutchogue on Sunday morning (we will have several cars available to shuttle folks to and fro)

- Fireworks have been scheduled for your pleasure on Saturday at sunset as part of the Strawberry Festival activities.
