LABOR DAY WEEKEND CRUISE September 1 - 3, 2007 Mystic Seaport , CT (When the sun shines, the sky is blue and the winds are good) Update 8/30/07 -
Some information you may be interested in if you are joining the
cruise this weekend....
Working channel - VHF Ch 71
Seaport monitors Ch 68 Railroad bridge Ch 13 Mystic Drawbridge 40 min after the hr every hr - no need to call Seaport Dockmaster will stay available until at least the 5:40 (1740) bridge opening both Friday and Sat. Update 8/16/07 - Labor Day Cruise Aug 31 - Sept 3rd - a few boats are coming up on Friday evening but most on Saturday.
Mystic Seaport monitors VHF Ch 68 and
their landline is 860 572 0711. Give the Dock Office a call after
you pass under the drawbridge and he/she will assign you space at
the dock.
Sat @ 5:30 PM (1730) Cocktails on Lady
Elaine ( Dick and Elaine Tilton's boat).
Sun @ 1130 - lunch at the Seaman's Inn. The Seaman's Inn is a restaurant adjacent to the area that your boat will be docked. We have made group reservations but I need to know Friday/Sat of the Labor Day weekend if you will be attending and how many . The Inn is not open for breakfast - our usual Labor day Cruise activity. Breakfast places in Mystic within walking distance for a large group are scarce.
Sunday evening - you are on your own
unless the group decides on an "event".
Your dock fee gives you full access to all of the activities at the Seaport. Downtown is an easy walk should some of you not be able to resist the urge for shopping. There are a couple of good ice cream shops near the drawbridge which can be included in a Sunday evening walk to town.
For those of you who may have recently
decided that Mystic Seaport should be on your schedule, I cannot
guarantee dock space as I had to release it after Aug 1st. North Cove
Yacht Club will also be there. Best thing to do is call the dock office
and they may be able to fit you in.

Update 7/11/07 - Reservations need to be made promptly if not already done. There is competition for available space with another YC. Contact Dick Tilton to let him know you will be coming. HS More detail to follow but here's some important info dated 4/22/07; It's not too early to think about your summer cruise schedule...here are some specifics from Dick Tilton regarding the Labor Day Cruise to Mystic: I have been able to save approximately 10 spots for the weekend Friday thru Monday at the Seaport. These would be slips on the 150 ft wall. If you think you'll be attending, you should call the dock master at the Seaport within the next couple of weeks to secure a spot. He will require a deposit which is refundable if plans change prior to the cruise. I will also be planning a "traditional Sunday AM breakfast" (shades of Napatree) and the usual assortment of cocktail parties etc. People will have access to the Seaport grounds for the entire weekend. Also if you are a Seaport member there is a pretty substantial discount on slip rates. Email Dick with any questions regarding this cruise. rctilton@comcast.net
