Columbus Day Cruise

Our last DIYC Cruise of the season was cool but clear. We had a record of nine boats participating including the Connel's. They were: KittyHawk, Sea Wings, Just Because, Ginger Snap, Peace & Quiet, Heartbeat, Ceilidh, Winsome & Guest. Til & Just Desserts were in Trieste sailing in the Barcolana.
It rained a little on Friday but cleared to crisp sunshine the rest of the weekend. Saturday saw Bald Eagles soaring over the cove. That evening Burke & Donna hosted a cocktail party aboard KittyHawk, thanks.
On Sunday some of us were ferried aboard Ginger Snap down to Essex for brunch at the Essex Corinthian YC. Very nice. Thanks to Ginger & Lenny. That evening there was a carry-in supper aboard Ceilidh with 22 people attending. The ladies prepared a sumptuous feast. No one went away hungry! Bryson from Sea Wings displayed 2 lit pumpkins he had carved. An amazing job! No "roadies" this year?
Hope everyone had a good time. Look forward to seeing you all again, and hopefully more, next Memorial Day.

DIYC Summer Cruise to Cape Cod & The Islands 2009

I hope you all enjoyed our Summer Cruise 2009 as much as I enjoyed planning it for you. Although the summer weather was not ideal, in retrospect it wasn't so bad for us.

First a hardy thank you to Kate & Mike Parker for the fabulous coockout at their house on Cuttyhunk! Also another thank you to junior harbormaster Ben Cozzi who always, being there first, arranged to save moorings at several destinations. And to Joan Marcus for arranging transportation and restaurant reservations in Falmouth. And thanks to all of you for helping and participating. To Al & Donna Branciforte thanks for coming 2 if by land, all the way from Ohio with your Duck Prizes. It was fun.

A few thoughts: We experienced my first FOG DELAY at the Falmouth Commodores baseball game. Ran to Chatham without seeing any of the south side of the Cape. Monomoy Theater and Honk quacked us up. Vineyard Haven worked out well ,with a tour under the draw bridge into the pond beyond and of course dinner at THE Black Dog Tavern. Saw the Katama Cut at Edgartown. And 3 of us ventured into Lake Tashmoo which was a first.

We were sorry to have lost Asterion when Han & Edith headed home due to health concerns. We wish Han a successful knee operation on the 28th. And also to Sea Wings and their difficulties. We wish Bryson a speedy recovery from his finger injury and Sea Wings for the loss of an engine. Frank, please keep us posted.

We were thrilled to pick up Screwball with the Carses in Cutty and keep them with us through Quissett. And we hooked up with Fusion and the Salernos in Edgartown who came to a couple of cocktail parties (the kids liked the Duckie Prize Raffles).Come with us next year.

All in all, I hope you had a good cruise, I know Ceilidh and crew did . Where to next year???

Ruth & Pete

To Pete and Ruth,

From the last people still out on cruise (that would be us). Thanks to you and everyone with us for such outstanding company, great cocktail party food, interesting conversations and just plain FUN. You all were terrific. Pete you did an exceptional job planning this trip. EXCEPTIONAL. So much fun so well thought out and researched and so active yet relaxing. Well done. I suggest a stop in Newport next year to see the Champion Gulls play.
Thanks,

Joan and Joel

July 4th Cruise to Coecles Harbor

We had 8 boats join us at Coecles Harbor, Shelter Island for a good weekend. Asterion with Han & Edith made it just in time for the party on Celidh on Saturday. Dick & Elaine moored Lady Elaine at the head of the harbor but dinked down to the party with friends Vince & Eugenia. Joel, Just Desserts brought his Hobie 16 for some exciting sailing in the harbor. The kids aboard Hayride and Screwball had a good time at the beach (Sheridan said that with the wind they got a little sand-blasted) and came to the party later.Frank & Joanne re-anchored Mischief closer to the fleet so they wouldn't have to go too far for the party. Bill & Vicki aboard Peace & Quiet hosted a second cocktail party on  Sunday night.
So we had fun. Come join us next time.
Pete
PS - We did place the decals on the Sag Harbor mooring which is #8 not 9
Summer Cruise starts on July 25th to Cape Cod & The Islands.
