LABOR DAY WEEKEND CRUISE ‘06

(When the sun shines, the sky is blue and the winds are good)

     September 2, 3, 4th

  Port Jefferson, Long Island NY

Well the sun didn’t shine (until Sunday afternoon), the sky on Friday and Saturday was overcast with rain and the winds blew gale force. As far as I know all participants cancelled. We did schedule a carry-in at the Yacht Club Saturday at 6PM. Unfortunately the property was under water, as bad as we’ve seen it in many years. So the 4 boats that were nutty enough to spend the weekend aboard were marooned to the docks and those that came by car couldn’t make it in (sorry). But Till hosted the carry-in after which we watched another movie. It was a big movie-watching weekend. By the way, never let Roz pick the movie!

On Sunday afternoon, Connal’s joined the Marcus’s aboard Just Desserts for an overnight trip to Hamburgh Cove. The sky was especially blue and the Sound was flat as a pancake. There was no problem in getting a rental mooring. Sunday found the Cove filled to the brim with as many large rafts as I’ve ever seen. The joyous sounds of little kids swimming. And we saw a sailboat from Groton with a big fat pet pig. We went over to see Piggy Sue close up. Ruth got a picture.

Same afternoon Weinstein’s and Simons flew over to spend the night in Cutchogue. What did everyone else do?

Setauket YC was very nice to take our cancellations and Theatre 3 will credit my MasterCard. So Folks, let’s try it again in ’07. And thanks to Lorrie who is letting me keep my tee shirt.
